Message Description
Much of the Church today has not only removed the cross from its tabernacles and grounds, but also removed the influence of the Holy Spirit. As a result our churches are filled with men and women who do not recognize or operate from a knowledge of the spirit of God.
There is a revolutionary remnant of people who understand the Holy Spirit is in us to do the will of His good pleasure. This remnant will not only influence the unchurched, but also those who are in the church building but have no functional understanding of what it truly means to live according to the will of God.
Scriptures
John 16:7-16
“But here’s the truth: It’s to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away the Divine Encourager will not be released to you. But after I depart, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will expose sin and prove that the world is wrong about God’s righteousness and his judgments.
“‘Sin,’ because they refuse to believe in who I am.
“God’s ‘righteousness,’ because I’m going back to join the Father and you’ll see me no longer.
“And ‘judgment’ because the ruler of this dark world has already received his sentence.
“There is so much more I would like to say to you, but it’s more than you can grasp at this moment. But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, he will unveil the reality of every truth within you. He won’t speak his own message, but only what he hears from the Father, and he will reveal prophetically to you what is to come. He will glorify me on the earth, for he will receive from me what is mine and reveal it to you. Everything that belongs to the Father belongs to me—that’s why I say that the Divine Encourager will receive what is mine and reveal it to you. Soon you won’t see me any longer, but then, after a little while, you will see me in a new way”(TPT).
Key Points
-
Jesus told us why the Holy Spirit would come. We cannot become born of the spirit without the Holy Spirit doing His work of conviction of sin and convincing of righteousness, which is His purpose.
-
He’s not just talking about the unsaved. He’s speaking in the context of the Church. What He is saying is, you must have the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life or you will never be convicted of your sin.
-
Our congregations today are full of people who confess Christ but have no conviction of the Holy Spirit. They are never driven to a place where they seek the face of God to reveal the hidden sin in their hearts. They may mentally assent to something, but the Holy Spirit is not alive in them to the point that when they start to step out of line there is a conviction of heart that falls on them.
-
We’ve lost the ability to cry, "Woe is me!" All we have is blaming. We need to be able to admit to God, "I’m not right." If you think you live a day where you are all right all the day, you are not living in the endued power of the Holy Spirit.
-
Let's pray that God would send the sweet, powerful, loving, mighty demonstrative spirit of Holy Ghost conviction upon us all. So when we come back through the doors of our tabernacles, and may it be soon, we do not come in with bitterness in our heart.
-
The convicting power of the Holy Spirit is to your spirit what pain is to your body – an indicator that a problem exists.
-
There’s about to be a Great Awakening. And the first thing to arise from its slumber are backslidden saints. And when they do, the glory will come upon us all in such a way that the world will be convinced that there is so much more to life than what they've been experiencing.
