11/28/2019 — Are you in despair, or are you desperate? The distinction is crucial. Despair gets buried, while desperation stirs action that prompts a resurrection.

The healing you need from God is available to you right now. You simply have to be desperate enough to pursue it and ask God for it. Like the woman with the issue of blood, you may need to overcome obstacles to get to the hem of Jesus's garment. But that's how you will get your healing! Will you be made whole?


Acts 17:16-33
“ While Paul waited for them in Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols. Therefore he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to there. Then some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, 'What will this babbler say?' Others said, 'He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,' because he preached Jesus and the resurrection to them. They took hold of him and led him to the Areopagus, saying, 'May we know what this new doctrine is of which you speak? For you are bringing strange things to our ears. Therefore we want to know what these things mean.' For all the Athenians and foreigners who lived there spent their time in nothing else, but either telling or hearing something new.
"Then Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus, and said: 'Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious. For as I passed by and looked up at your objects of worship, I found an altar with this inscription:

Whom you therefore unknowingly worship, Him I proclaim to you.
“'God who made the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by hands. Nor is He served by men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives all men life and breath and all things. He has made from one blood every nation of men to live on the entire face of the earth, having appointed fixed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek the Lord so perhaps they might reach for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. "For in Him we live and move and have our being." As some of your own poets have said, "We are His offspring."
“'Therefore since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to suppose that the Deity is like gold or silver or stone or an engraved work of art or an image of the reflection of man. God overlooked the times of ignorance, but now He commands all men everywhere to repent. For He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by a Man whom He has appointed, having given assurance of this to all men by raising Him from the dead.
"When they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some scoffed. But others said, 'We will hear you again concerning this matter.' So Paul departed from them. However, some men joined him and believed. Among them were Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them" (MEV).

• When the French army was fighting during the Vietnam War, there was a surgeon who was stricken with an appendicitis attack while marching through rice paddies. Left untreated, that could have killed him.
• The surgeon was desperate. He cut himself open with a razor, removed the offending organ, and sewed his wound shut with thread from his uniform. He became a noted surgeon in Paris after the war.
• Are you that desperate to get the miracle you need from God? If you fall into despair, you will find yourself already defeated. But if you get desperate, you will take action until your situation gets God's attention.
• He will heal us when we call to Him in spirit and in truth. The citizens of Athens were religious – having a god for every conceivable purpose. But they did not know the Creator or His Son, Jesus Christ. Paul encouraged them then, and his words encourage us now, to repent of our sin and come to Him with our greatest needs.
• When we are desperate enough, we will experience resurrection in our lives. And that's when He will make us whole.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your divine provision for my healing! I refuse to fall into despair. I am desperate for a touch from You, Heavenly Father. Order my steps so that I will do whatever it takes to seek You for the healing I need.

Healing is mine! I cannot thank and praise You enough for all You have done for me. Let my healing and everything else about my life be a sign and a wonder for others - a testimony of what You will do with a surrendered life.
