When a member of a local congregation is in need of a physical, spiritual or emotional healing, there are things that member needs to do to activate his or her miracle. But there is also a role to play for his or her family – including his or her church family.
We are called to fast and pray, not only for specific needs in our congregation, but as a lifestyle that consecrates ourselves before God and creates an atmosphere of expectancy. When we fast and pray, people attached to our house
will be healed!
EDUCATION
Acts 12:6-17
“The night before Herod planned to bring him to trial, he made sure that Peter was securely bound with two chains. Peter was sound asleep between two soldiers, with additional guards stationed outside his cell door, when all at once an angel of the Lord appeared, filling his prison cell with a brilliant light. The angel struck Peter on the side to awaken him and said, 'Hurry up! Let’s go!' Instantly the chains fell off his wrists. The angel told him, 'Get dressed. Put on your sandals, bring your cloak, and follow me.'
"Peter quickly left the cell and followed the angel, even though he thought it was only a dream or a vision, for it seemed unreal—he couldn’t believe it was really happening! They walked unseen past the first guard post and then the second before coming to the iron gate that leads to the city—and the gate swung open all by itself right in front of them!
"They went out into the city and were walking down a narrow street when all of a sudden the angel disappeared. That’s when Peter realized that he wasn’t having a dream! He said to himself, 'This is really happening! The Lord sent his angel to rescue me from the clutches of Herod and from what the Jewish leaders planned to do to me.'
"When he realized this, he decided to go to the home of Mary and her son John Mark. The house was filled with people praying. When he knocked on the door to the courtyard, a young servant girl named Rose got up to see who it was. When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so excited that she forgot to open the door, but ran back inside the house to announce, 'Peter is standing outside!'
“'Are you crazy?' they said to her. But when she kept insisting, they answered, 'Well, it must be his angel.'
"Meanwhile, Peter was still outside, knocking on the door. When they finally opened it, they were shocked to find Peter standing there.
"He signaled for them to be quiet as he shared with them the miraculous way the Lord brought him out of prison. Before he left he said, 'Make sure you let Jacob and all of the other believers know what has happened'” (TPT).
APPLICATION
- Disease cannot be prayed out. It must be cast out. Don't ask God if it is His will to heal – we know it is! So tell disease to go. Tell it to go back to its overlord, Satan, and tell Satan, "You came up against the blood of Jesus again, and lost again."
- Give cancer and other diseases their eviction notice!
Jesus said severe afflictions are only cast out through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). He was referring not only to prayer and fasting in response to the affliction, but also of habitual prayer and fasting. We must make prayer and fasting part of our lives, not only to prevent afflictions from striking us but also to combat it in our natural and church families.
- Praying and fasting when the affliction manifests is too late. Pray every day! Fast every day! It's preventive medicine against what the adversary of your soul has planned for you.
- When Peter was supernaturally released from jail, it happened because of the prayers of the church. Peter wasn't praying – he was asleep! The prayers of a church family can heal and deliver!
IMPARTATION
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for what Your Word reveals about healing in the Church! I acknowledge my responsibility to fast and pray not only for myself, but also for the members of Your Church. Order my steps so that I may be dedicated to a consecrated lifestyle of sacrifice and communion with You, that I may be a positive force in Your Church.
Teach me more of Your ways so that our congregation becomes known as a beacon of hope for the afflicted and the hurting – where You are known and loved and worshipped above all. Work through me to share Your love and Your power with others in the days and weeks to come.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ – Jehovah Joshua Messiah – I pray. Amen!
