Don't Sell Out
So King David sent for and brought him from the house of Makir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
- 2 Samuel 9:5
Mephibosheth dwelt in the house of Machir, which means "sold out." he
had sold out to his circumstances. Have you ever said, "Well, under the
circumstances, I'm doing okay." who says you are under your
circumstances? You are more than a conqueror. But if your circumstances
dictate your lifestyle instead of your position, then you will sell out your
birthright for your current situation instead of waiting for your future
promise. You may have settled for less, but God won't.
Like the man with the withered hand, God will demand that you stretch forth your
disability (Mark 3:1-5). Perhaps instead, you are like the prodigal son eating
with pigs, but the Father is waiting for you to come to His feast (Luke
15:11-32). You may be eating crumbs, but God has prepared His table for you
(Luke 16:19-31). Yes, you can run from covenant but you cannot hide. The light
of His light will expose you. You will say with the psalmist, "if I say,
surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me
(Psalm 139:11).
Don't run from the covenant. Embrace the new covenant with Jesus as your
Lord and Savior.
