Arise
He went out of the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was taken ill with a high fever, and they asked Him about her. So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she rose and served them.
- Luke 4:38-39
The word rebuke in the Greek is a very strong word. It means essentially,
"Stop it; that's enough." When Jesus hung on the Cross and
declared, "It is finished," He announced to the underworld,
"Stop it; that's enough!"
Whatever the devil has designed to sideline you--whether it's cancer, a
divorce, or an affair--know that every enemy attack against you is met with
the presence of God standing over you declaring, "Stop it; that's
enough." Not only is Jesus standing over you, He's standing behind
you, in front of you, beside you, and beneath you.
In verse 39, the fever left Simon Peter's mother-in-law and she arose. Allow
Jesus to overshadow you with His presence and rebuke worry, disease, and
depression. Do as Peter's mother-in-law: Arise and serve Him.
Is there a disease, worry, anxiety, or fear in your life that you need to rebuke
in Jesus' name? Do it now. Don't delay. Don't lose one more minute
being intimidated by the enemy. Rise and serve Jesus.
