A Faith That’s Effective
He has anointed me … [to bring] recovery of sight to the blind.
Luke 4:18
In the Gospels, Jesus walked from village to village, healing every sickness and
disease that came across His path. “Jesus went throughout Galilee … preaching
the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the
people” (Matthew 4:23).
To me, this is the true ministry of the Gospel. People become open to the good
news after they have seen an answer to prayer. People long for something
real—a faith that’s effective. We in the Church need to believe for something
more. Signs and wonders validate the Gospel message and cause it to spread.
Look for opportunities to pray—God will prove Himself faithful. Matthew says,
“News about Jesus spread all over Syria” (Matthew 4:24). This is evangelism at
work. When people hear there is a God who will meet them at their point of
need, they will come looking for Him.
As times get tough, the Church in America needs to seek God’s anointing, and
preach the old-fashioned, heartfelt, Holy Spirit, sin-eradicating,
life-changing, healing message of Jesus Christ … the whole Gospel. The world
is longing for it!
