Kindness Is Love’s Activity
But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward mankind appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of rebirth and the renewal of the Holy Spirit…
– Titus 3:4-5
As a Christian, once you are grafted into the vine of Jesus Christ, you begin to
see yourself bearing the fruit of love. The way you look and act will begin to
change as you become more like your Father in heaven.
Love’s activity is kindness. Kindness mellows a harsh disposition. It is the
divine attribute that makes God loving yet righteous. It doesn’t take away
from God’s goodness, but rather, it makes God’s goodness accessible to us.
Kindness is the patient love of God that would allow Him to humble Himself and
leave the portals of heaven to meet us where we were, so He could gently share
His love with us.
By bearing God’s kindness through your life, you will be sharing the love and
patience that God bestowed upon mankind (Ephesians 2:1-9). It is not human
nature to love those who are unloving or to put the needs of others first.
Kindness is love’s activity alive and working within your heart.
Holy Spirit, help me to be active in showing God’s love through kindness to
strangers and to those who are unloving toward me.
