The Measure of Faith
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
- Romans 12:3
All gifts are given to us by God and they are distributed by the Spirit of
God—not for our own benefit but for the benefit of the body of Christ.
Each gift is to help build, restore, counsel, strengthen, enlighten, encourage
or to bless the Church and her members.
Too often the gifts in the house are used to exalt “self,” which is pride and
haughtiness wrapped in the cloak of religious work, piety or duty.
Our faith is not for ourselves nor should it be rooted in us—it is about God.
Without faith it is impossible to please Him. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without
faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must
believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
God did not call us to have faith in ourselves, but to have faith in Him. He has
given us a measure of faith to believe in Him, and as we grow in the knowledge
and understanding of God our faith will grow as well.
