Guilty But Blameless
Therefore, brothers, we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way that He has opened for us through the veil, that is to say, His flesh, and since we have a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse them from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
- Hebrews 10:19-22
In the Old Testament, covenant partners would plant a tree and sprinkle it with
blood as a memorial to their covenant union. The blood-stained tree that
symbolizes our union with Jesus Christ was planted two thousand years ago on
Calvary. This blood, was applied to the mercy seat of God. Sin was no longer
covered, but cleansed.
Now when we go before the father in our guilt, he looks upon the perfect blood
on the mercy seat and says, "guilty but blameless."
You may be carrying a burden of guilt for things you have done, attitudes you
have held, or words you have spoken. Give your guilt to the lamb who takes
away the sin of the world. You can then stand before God in absolute
confidence that the blood of Jesus made you blameless.
Christ has made us partakers in his nature through his shed blood. With
confidence and boldness you can come into the Holy of Holies because you are
blameless in Christ Jesus.
