God Does Not Withhold Good
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give favor and glory, for no good thing will He withhold from the one who walks uprightly.
– Psalm 84:11
God does not withhold good; however, there is one caveat. He does not withhold
good from those who walk uprightly before Him. How do we walk uprightly before
Him? By accepting the free gift of His Son and becoming the righteousness of
God in Christ.
In Psalm 84, we see a portrait of David, a man after God’s own heart, describing
the dwelling place of God and declaring that those who dwell in God’s house
are blessed. God’s dwelling place is not just a physical place we will enjoy
for eternity, it is a spiritual place we can get to today where the enemy
cannot harm us.
David says he would rather dwell one day in the courts of God than a thousand
elsewhere and that he would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God than to
dwell in the tents of wickedness (Psalm 84:10).
God withholds no good thing. He did not even withhold the gift of His only
begotten Son. God gave His all!
I will dwell and abide in God’s goodness today.
